Nancy Bird Walton

Australia's most famous aviatrix, Nancy Bird Walton (centre). She was taught to fly by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, and set up an outback flight service for sick children in the 1930s.
She is standing next to my jeep with some of her colleagues.
She passed away today, 13th January 2009 aged 93 and is to receive a state funeral.
